• Most importantly, make sure you purchase travel insurance.
• If you are travelling within the EU, bring your European Health Insurance Card. If you have private health insurance bring your membership card with you also as they may cover you while abroad.
• Take a photocopy your passport and drivers licence and keep the copies in a safe place. It is a good idea to bring alternative photo ID, like a driving licence or Garda Age Card that you can take out to clubs with you instead of your passport.
• Don't bring just cash. It's best to take a mixture of cash, credit cards and traveller’s cheques.

• Be careful with alcohol and avoid drugs, penalties for offences relating to which can be higher abroad than at home.
• Respect the local culture and authorities. While many holiday resorts are tolerant of noisy groups, others may see it as disrespectful behaviour.
• Keep in touch with your family at home. Let them know about your whereabouts and travel arrangements to avoid them worrying about you.
